Carolyn, Thanks for the info on the sewing machines. My trousers suffered alot during the three months of summer when we drove from Finland (we have a summer cottage there) through Denmark, Germany to Holland to visit Dh's daughter. I have really new and nice trousers with tears in the inner leg and so on. Its really frustrating that I can't wear them especially when I need them so much now!! LOL. I think I either need to lose weight (very badly !! All that eating in Malaysia is haunting my middle segment!!) or be more gentle when wearing those pants. I don't dare even think about a place to alter these pants so I think a long term investment and solution would be a simple sewing machine! I'm having Marie over tomorrow afternoon for lunch and I am so excited to meet my first Internet friend (who has been a great support and inspiration...taadaaa!) in Sweden to have an excuse to sit in, booze and cook for more than two people! Carolyn, I am amazed at how many people who are from western countries here who cook Indian food, like Indian music and wear Indian clothes! I saw a lady in a saree at the Coop in Bromma the other day and it was groovy. I have a really nice emerald saree with silver embroidery coming my way in a few months. We posted my finer stuff cheaply from Malaysia. Maybe we can have a big party for Positively Sweden themed "Indian Night" and we can all dress up and eat Indian...LöL <br> ;D ;D

Hey Angie/Gravadlax Yes, I threw caution to the wind and it came out quite well. I have extra dosa "liquid dough" which I froze for another time. I hope it works when it thaws. As for sewing machines, I bought one for 1300kr a week ago. So far it's fine for general use. I bought it new at OnOff and it's the only symaskin they actually sell. It's not a Singer which I brought with me but can't find a converter for (but I'm still looking) but it was cheap enough so I have something to use in the meantime. Carolyn, you are NOT the only one who loves Salwar Kameez !! It's a great idea to sew one actually...so many possibilities...

Angie, an Indian night sounds like fun. I have about 6-8 saris, some in pure silk, and a gorgeous salwar kameez I wore last Jul. I also make a killer dum gosht and I think in the food section here, you can find some of my recipes converted for Swedish measurements.
A friend of mine bought her sewing machine at the Husqvarna factory down in Borås, I think she paid about 600 SEK for it and it will sew through 6 layers of canvas. I LOVE those machines that can do that. I have seen sewing machines here at Myrorna for between 200-400 SEK and also at our loppmarknad, but on those, you have to make sure you can plug them in and try them out before you buy.
Marie told me they were headed your way today. I hope you both have a great time.

;D Should have seen Dh's eyes when I mentioned the sewing machine prices especially SweeAud's. Then it settled back to normal when i got it down to 400sek. Looks like I will be getting a sysmarkin very soon! By the way www.blocket.se also has some i noticed. Carolyn, yes Marie and LG were here last night. We had such a blast. It was so nice to met her after months of emailing and also to see DH take to LG very well. I luv their Lambi and pestered him all night to buy me a doggie!!! Hey! If I cant have kids, at least I should have a little cute dog!
