Hi all! I've come in search for a fun place to read and post! I used to be active over at 'kanska, but I found myself getting sucked into drama and caught up in a lot of stupid things I should never have even bothered with LOL So I just want a fun place to be, and Helena pointed me over in this direction! Hi everyone!!! ;D

Hey, JerseyGirl, come on down! Just remember, you are only allowed a reasonable period to whine on this board, after which, somebody here will tell you to knock it off. We're relatively sympathetic about adjustment problems, but think you've made choices, just as we have, and need to move on. That being said, it's great to have new people here and I hope you feel free to dive in and offer up your tidbits of wisdom (and some laughs wouldn't be bad either) ;D Carolyn, who was formerly immigrante on the other site

Hey there Jersey Girl,
Welcome to this board. I also was a frequent poster on Amerikanska. It started 4 years ago, then I left for 2 years, then I came back again. I found myself become upset over postings and posting responses that were in truth not me. I am not the antagonistic person that I may of come across on that site. I think it was better that I left. There is valueable information on that site, but I couldn't hold my tongue and that got me into trouble.

I should have written, was it you Jersey Girl that lives in Bandhagen? Up until a year ago, we lived there too on Fågelstavägen. We then moved here to Sundbyberg, otherwise who knows we might have been neighbors.

Hi Jersey Girl,
It's nice to see you over here! I think that this is a fun place to share ideas and tips without the histrionics that seem to accompany posting on some other forums.
It is so nice here, as we come from all over the world, everyone is more or less equal, and it isn't so centred on a few personalities.
Between you and me, I always find it a bit annoying at 'kanska when I see a postings headed "John's back!" or something like that. Hey, if we all did that when we went away for a week...
It's not that I don't think they have the right to tell about their own lives, but, well, I don't really find it necessary to have a posting in that someone I don't know is flying from one U.S. city to another one this week, or what happened to so-and-so at the drivers licence office last week. I find it's starting to border on personality cults, and I find it pretty dreary, to be honest. (whinge whinge whinge!)
Sadly, although this is a side issue, I also find that the standard has dropped quite dramatically. Sometimes it seems like a competition to be as far down in the gutter as possible.
But this is a relaxed place to share ideas and give each other support as we settle into Swedish life.
Welcome!

Hi JersyGirl ... (me thinking have I welcomed Maja yet??) to PS. I joined PS a couple of years ago & have never regretted the choice The support & mature level kept me coming back. Sure there are days i still scratch my head about things in Sweden ... but as Cake Guru said in another thread ... I've have either learned to go with the flow & not let it bother me ... or I have made choices & opened other doors to enter in my life. Here is a place NO one is going to tell you how to live your life (if your trully happy) We all lead different lives here & it's not the same as my experiences. enjoy PS and take care of it like it's a friendship of Kindred Spirits.

OMG ;D
pinch me!
Does a site lie this really exist? No argumenst? No petty backlashes? No inflated egos?
I think I've found my new [glow=red,2,300]love[/glow]!!
Thank youall so much for your welcome!
I have to agree with Sabeine (I think it was you that wrote that) who replied to me saying something along the lines of her feeling as though she was coming off as more antoganistic on 'kanska. I know that I got sucked into things sometimes and must have come off as an awful person in some threads. Just becasue anger builds up and when I type it all out it comes out like an explosion LOL I swear that's not me! That place just does it to you! (maybe it's the colors there as well?)
Don't worry, Carolyn, I'm not here to rant or whine about anything! I have my blog for that!! My true outlet
Oh, and yes Sabeine, I am on the one who lives in Bandhagen which we discussed on a thread back on that other site. I live on Sjösavägen, right by Högdalen. It takes me the same exact time to walk to the Högdalen station as it does the Bandhagen one. I really like it here. Only 10 minutes by tunnelbana to Söder, but still in a clam quiet area!
Vember, I am adjusting well here, I think. I am really enjoying everything. Granted, we don't have much money to do the things we like, but it's ok! We can only grow from here, and I just really am enjoying it. Of course I miss Jersey and NYC and my family, nut that's how it goes. I think I'm doing well in learning the language. I'm really enjoying my SFI classes! My teacher is so great, I think I'm lucky on that one. So far so good!
You guys sound so great! I'm afraid all that greatness got drowned out by all the noise over at THAT OTHER SITE, and I never noticed!
I've found my sanctuary! WEEEEEEEE!!!!
Wow alot of exclamation points in this post. Methinks I should cut down on the suger....
My name is Irma, btw

JG, I do miss living in Bandhagen. We moved to our current apt because it was bigger, and the place in Bandhagen was small, 51kvm. It did have a great view of Globen though. We were at the top of the street and on the 6th floor and we had a corner apt. We could see all the lovely trees, part of Södermalm in the distance, the Globe, and the hot air ballooners. I was very sad to leave that. In the apt we live in now our view is of the next building. Bummer. There wasn't much space for all of Anders things (read electronic things, and many dust collecting gadgets. ) so we moved to this place after living in our old apt for a year. I do like having more space in our current place. We have a 2 bedroom now so we can stick all his stuff in the office as he calls it, I call it the "please keep the door closed" room.

Our apt is only 29 sq km, but it workes fine for us now. ONLY 29 sq km!? wow you need a better apartment locator, any place you can't fit a heard of inlaws in the 'back 40' is just too small ;D (Gosh I hope I'm reading that right, the whole "mile" = 10 kilometer thing, and any metric doings, really throw me sometimesI'm glad that you're adjusting so well. That gives me hope -- and I hope for a good SFI teacher, too! I'm really looking forward to my classes, that'll be the first major step in my new life... semi independant when I'm otherwise so hopelessly dependant in that strange world.
