I have somehow managed to acquire two copies of the book "The Weaker Vessel" by Lady Antonia Fraser. It's a very, very readable, fascinating study of women in 17th century England, all classes. I'll bring it back to Sweden or even mail it right now, if somebody wants to pay the $5.00 it cost me. It's a high quality paperback, by the way
Part of the cover description reads:
"Here are young heiresses hunted like foxes for their land and fortunes or sold by their parents for political advantage, loving wives in happy unions, unheeding of the common belief that marriage for love was foolish. Multitudes of women proving themselves, during the Civil War, to be as courageous as men."
"Women of every class, circumstance and sensibility, despite the approved wisdom of the day that women were morally, spiritually and intellectually 'the weaker vessel.'
Fraser really knows how to write history, as anybody who has read her "Mary, Queen of Scots" or "Charles II" can attest.
Let me know if you're interested.

Sure, Lady D, I'd be glad to. I think you would really enjoy it. I read it a few years ago in the library and wanted my own copy, so that's why I somehow ended up ordering 2 copies, one in hardback and one in paperback.
I'll be back in Sweden in late February and the books will probably arrive in March sometime, since I'm sending them by M-bag and they take 6-8 weeks to arrive. We'll post the books in mid-February before we take off for San Francisco.
