Snabb yeast? In a Swedish cookbook? In the States it's called "Quick-Rise" yeast, but I've never seen it here (or any recipes that call for it, for that matter). Weird ... maybe you could call the breadmaker manufacturer and ask them about it? I always used regular dry yeast in my breadmaker in the States.
Sorry that's not much help!

i think we will have to. the book that came with it has like 10 different languages and in swedish, danish and norway, english and german version they all say there are 3 different types of of yeast, fresh, quick and this other kind you find in the milk section. thanks for you help though.

Ask for "Torr-jäst" in your local store. It doesn´t need to be kept cool so it could be anywhere in the store, not only in the dairy section. The package I have here is yellow and it says "Kron Jäst" with blue letters on front of the package. That´s the stuff they have used in baking mashines here. 1 bag dried yeast equals 50 grams of fresh yeast.

Just a little clarification: the yeast you find in the dairy section is "fresh yeast" and the kind Bunny described is "dry yeast." As far as I know, those are the only two types of yeast to be bought here. I hope you can get this sorted out soon!

well i looked up on the net about yeast and there are 4 different types you can get. i did go back to konsum and ask about the yeast i wanted and they said i could probalby find it at a bigger store or a place that sells stuff to make your own boozes. she said some drinks call for this ¨fast ¨ yeast and so i should go there. in the mean time i have some coming in the mail now. the bread machine is german made and is different then the nordic one i had.

Melody,
Where do you live? You can find yeast usually in the same section as flours etc. Snabb yeast like they use in alcohol comes in pretty large packages. I saw some today at Ekohallen. You might also try looking on the Internet for recipes that call for regular dry yeast.

Aha! I hadn't thought about the alcohol-making yeast! That could be useful information to have!
Glad you got it all worked out! ;D
