We are invited to a wedding this summer and would like to brainstorm about a gift to buy. This is a couple who has been together for a very long time ... with 2 kids and a house. Do you think a dog would be a good gift ;D kidding any one have an idea. I first thought of buying a tree

I moved from Oregon to Kiruna in Sept. 2001. I think I'm adjusted. Sorta.

This is going to sound very unromantic, but one of my friends always gives out stamps to the newlyweds and they are always really appreciated since postage for thank you notes is so expensive.
I don't know what else to say. We are trying to get a registry together for our wedding and it is really difficult since we are already established. I just want to tell everyone to give us money, but I'm not quite that tacky yet *l*. I've also asked for scrapbooking supplies so we can make a really nice wedding album.

Along the lines of the scrapbooking idea, maybe you can get them a really nice frame to put one of their wedding photos in.

I like the tree idea myself, especially a flowering tree. (Unless someone has allergies.)

I'm with the tree idea. Something to plant in memory of their anniversary. I agree with something flowering as well. They are usually prettier. You could have a card printed or do it yourself, describing the tree (sturdy, fragrant, medicinal etc...) and depending on the tree's qualities you could print that on the card and incorporate that into their marriage. The expression "stronger than oak" is an example. You could have the card printed with your personal message and tie and ribbon to it, and hang it on a branch of the tree. I think the tree is a great gift. They'll remember it way more than the typical candlesticks, and bowls most people give.
