So cool! Carolyn, you must be thrilled (and very relieved!) Next stop en svensk medborgare, eller hur? I've got my PUT application in too, so I hope to get a happy letter soon, or I may need to borrow that cellar, Debbie

Yay for you, Carolyn! What a relief.
How long does it take before one can apply for citizenship? I have my PUT, I got it 3 years ago before I moved here. It was a different circumstance, cause my parents are from Sweden although they gave up their Swedish citizenship when they became US citizens 40 years ago. Still I got my PUT and was very surprised by that. Is it 3 years that one must wait to apply for citizenship, or is it 5? I also read somewhere that this also depends if one's SO is Swedish or not. Mine is does that make a difference?

You ought to be able to register for citizenship right now, Sabeine. It's 3 years for people living with a Swede, and it's NOT 3 years from the PUT, but three years from start of residency is how I understand it. You get the forms from Migrationsverket and submit them, along with 1,500 SEK, and you're on your way.
I'm going to check when I go down there today for my stamp to see if the 18 months I lived here before we went to the States will count towards my 3 year residency or if I have to start all over again.
