Okay, I HAVE managed to lose 3 kilos since I've been home, despite eating myself nearly sick on knäckebröd and prästost, but oh boy, do I have to develop some new crotch calluses. The legs are okay, holding up better than I thought, but doggone, the sitting down parts definitely need toughing.

30,5 km bike ride today, but the last 5 km was a real struggle. Stupid bike lanes give out right at motorway and for about 1 km, you're sharing the motorway with cars hauling a** and I'm afraid my nerves are not strong. By the time we picked up the bike lanes again, my will was shattered!

I haven't seriously biked for years and I must admit that I'm terrified of riding in traffic. I can walk to work in 15 minutes or less without quite so much risk to life and limb. Not to mention that not if, but WHEN I fall over and bust my butt all my co-workers will see! Mats' mom is a seasoned biker and has a fairly new bike. One day she was riding and the pedals just sprang off....then so did she, right on main street.

When I first got on a bike here, I was terrified of going into town because of the traffic, and when I did, I was always sure I was going to get clobbered, but time and experience has given me more confidence, and actually, the cars are pretty much barred from centrum anyway. Only taxis, delivery vehicles and buses allowed on our main drag. Now the only problem I have is when we have to go on a main road, like the motorway, but it's usually just a very short bit. But the cars are going so fast and there's almost no shoulder there and I always get the sweats and shakes after a ride there.
It really pays to look after your bike as well. I know when something doesn't feel right, and Anders is always keeping an eye on anything that can come loose, bless his heart.
I'm down 4 kilos since returning as of today!!!

Still holding firm at a 4 kilo weight loss, which isn't bad for a month really. Nice thing is, the weather is great here and we just got back from a 15 km ride, one we've done a lot of times before, and I didn't have to stop for a rest or get off and walk up hills or anything. A little red in the face maybe, but damn, I feel good!

So you are the biker babe with the biker butt? 4 kilos is a good amount. I think it helps that it is warming up, it makes one have more energy to exercise. Swimsuit season is creeping up, that's always an incentive. With that in mind, I started kickboxing again 3 weeks ago. I feel really good, and my arms are toning up, as well as my hips. I would like to bicycle, but first need to get a bike. Time for me to get my own biker butt.

I'm definitely considering a gel saddle, but they're kind of pricey and i don't know anybody that has one, so no positive feedback so far. For somebody as plump as I am, I sure have no padding where the saddle hits and those pelvic bones can take a pounding.

What does a gel saddle look like? Do they sell them here in Sweden?

They do, I think they're about 150 SEK at our local Konsum Coop. they're just like a regular bike saddle, but kind of gooey to touch, rather what a silicon implant looks like before you stick it in and stitch it up. I just wonder if there's any weight limits on them, if it might rupture if one was a little - how shall I say this? - hefty, ample, downright porky?

After reading the posts by Sabeine and Carolyn I get this mental picture of sitting on a big silicone boob. I need to get more sleep. ;D
