If I had just gone on the Adkins diet a long time ago, I probably wouldn't have had the success I've had so far. My "lower" carb lifestyle is just that. There's no "high fat diet" for me with my higher risk of heart disease.
As much as I don't want to sound like a preacher, it can't be a switch from one diet to another. At my heaviest, I was in excess of nearly 160 kg which is horrifying when I think about it. At 36, I was well on my way to an early grave.
Everyone who sees a picture of my honey comments on how good looking he is and sometimes I sense that they wonder what he's doing with me. I can't answer that question but he's the answer to every prayer I've ever had. My weight isn't an issue with him, only as a concern for my health.
So in a nutshell, do it for your health. Find out what eating patterns work for you and stick to them "most" of the time. Some people do well with super low carb, some with lower carb and some with fat free. It's not the same for everyone.

I'd be very concerned about the no/low carb diets. I've heard that several people have died because of it.

But they estimate there are millions of people that are doing the diet. I would say the chances of death due to problems being overweight are statistically much higher than doing the diet.
Maja...You do need to read the book.
We've lost over 10 kg in two weeks. That's my darling and I combined.
BTW I think the title of the thread should be sung to "Stayin' Alive."

I know today I felt REALLY ill, like really weak and stuff, so I ate pizza, and tried to feel better. It actually started yesterday. I think I've just got a slight flu or something though, because even after chowing down on carbs today I still feel a little gross. I was on this same diet about 5 years ago. I lost almost 40 pounds on it and everything went really well. Once I get down, I'll never let myself slip so much ever again!
