I am leaving on a jetplane tomorrow and it seems that each time I go somewhere I kick myself for not brining along something to occupy my time. I have trouble sleeping on planes, and for some reason I feel a bit queasy when I read. What should I do/bring to pass the time. Anders suggested the "mile high" club. I should have expected such an answer from a man! Could anyone give me a suggestion, and respond tonight if possible? I'm hoping to be better prepared this time. We have a very long flight with several connections, it was cheap that way.

Well, I'm a reader myself, especially since they started taking away sharp, pointy objects, so I couldn't crochet or tat anymore! Heading west, I try to stay awake. Heading back in this direction, I have a drink, put on my comfy socks, my earplugs and my eyeblinders and even if I don't sleep, I try to stay quiet, which helps me pretty well with jet lag, which is worse for me heading east.

Hope you have a good and safe, if still boring, flight! I can't help because I can't seem to sleep or read either. I try to watch tv but the screens are usually too far away or directly over my head. Sometimes I listen to music but often can't really hear it above the roar of the engines. I tend to spend a lot of time fidgeting and daydreaming. One of my favorite flights was when around six in the morning a girl woke up and started polling the surrounding passengers about who slept, how long, etc. Not one person told her they had slept but I heard lots of snoring so somebody was being less than truthful and I helpfully pointed that out.
