Hi ladies, and one man here,
I really need your help. I thought to ask you all since you have great insight.
I have a paper due in my history class at the end of this semester. We are to have turned in our topic and "inledning" (I believe that is like our lead in statement about what we are to write about) this past Wed. I turned in one on another subject and received it back with some less than favorable comments about how I should have written it. I have come to the conclusion that I need to switch topics.
I have now decided to focus on Swedish emmigration to America between 1850-1930. What I need help here on is that I do not want to focus on the more obvious reason for this (economic, lack of food etc...) instead my teacher suggested that I focus on the social aspect such as political freedom, not being ruled by a king, etc... She said that those aspects are rarely written about regarding the emmigration from Sweden. I need help figuring out a good "header question" to state what it is that I will be talking about. I have sat here since this morning surfing the internet and I have three books from the library and I still have not been able to definitively come up with my header question. Do you have any suggestions? I feel like I am drowning in this paper. I have so much information but I feel that I am unable to formulate it until I have found my header question.
Help please...

Yes, it is.
She wanted me to delve into specifics regarding Eleanor of Aquitaine, and I just felt like I didn't know enough about her. We were supposed to pick a topic that we already had some knowledge of and go from there. I think the emmigration paper will be better for me, and she seemed more excited about it. When a teacher suggests that you choose a certain other subject that is usually a hint, and one should take it (most of the time)
Do you have any adivce as to the header question? I am at a loss.

Despite being the granddaughter of Swedish emigrants, I have no idea. My grandmother left for economic reasons, I think, and my grandfather left because he was probably pissed off at his family. That's about the extent of what I know.

Sorry I can't help you with this one, but since I know even less than you do about the subject, I can't even begin to think of a question to cover it. Now if you'd stuck with Eleanor .........
