HELP! I just realized that I'm totally out of ideas on how to find employment here in Stockholm. BUT, I'm probably searching for jobs in a very american way, since I've only been here since June and I'm still learning the ropes. Can anyone give me any Swedish Job Hunting Tips? Here are the things I've tried so far: 1. Arbetsförmedlingen-I'm in their data base, but they told me not to expect anything until I'm finished with SFI 2. Jobline.se, Addeco.se, Manpower.se, etc.- I've been checking these websites constantly for any positions that are open with english as their working language, but I'm usually underqualified since I only have 2 years of working experience since graduating from college 3. Handing out CV's to hotels in hopes of getting a cleaning position-most told me that I need to speak swedish, but I was hired by a hotel that was nicknamed the 'sweatshop' by it's employees. It was pretty nasty, I didn't stay there long. 4. American/British restaraunts-need swedish 5. Put up dog walking/sitting signs in my kommun- never got any replies And now I'm stuck! I know that speaking swedish and having contacts are almost essential, but I don't have either of those right now. Is there anything that I can do to compensate? There are several english-only speaking people that I know who are employed, but I must have made a huge oversight since I'm still unemployed! Any advice out there? ?

MultiMind is a recruiting agency and a job site that specializes in cultural diversity, the first of its kind in Sweden. MultiMind.com was launched in March 2000. It targets university graduates who have first-hand knowledge of languages and different cultures or people who have lived or held jobs in foreign countries. Seven partners, all Swedes, own the company. www.multimind.com/mm.nsffrom ParentNet www.parentnetsweden.com/Infopages/Resources/Employmen t_directory/multimind.htm Good Luck

Thanks for the advice! Strangely enough, I've been working as an extra for a TV commercial for the past 3 days. One of the teachers at my SFI also works for a film company that needed an audience for a commercial. Sadly, filming finished yesterday. But it was so great to feel like I could actually work here, get paid, and buy things for myself! Really miss being independent the most, I think. But the search continues! Hopefully, thanks to your help, I can find somehting soon! ;D

One of our very own SFI teachers at Duvbo also works at this film studio, Europa Films. He had arranged for 50 extras to work as an audience, but then the sun came out and 30 of them called off! He went around to all the classrooms and now the audience is mostly from the Duvbo SFI! Dumb luck is the best! ;D
