You can bet everybody I KNOW will be positively deluged with cute puppy photos. Except we don't get her now until the week-end, because the two of us couldn't find a mutually agreeable time tomorrow! Oh well.
As to Sophie, Lisa, yes, I got her from the breeder. I knew I wanted either a border or cairn terrier, since they are both small, but not fragile, and most terriers are extremely clever, although you DO have to establish your alpha dog status with them VERY quickly.
These breeders actually live outside of Degefors, which is close to you, Lisa. They raise both Newfoundlands and cairns and seem to be VERY caring people, and all the adult cairns we saw while out there were very social and well-behaved. They also had to approve of US before they would let us buy a puppy, and we spent a few hours with them, interacting with the dogs as well as having coffee and talking, before they said we could buy Sophie.
Plus as part of the package, not only has she had her first shots, but she's been tattooed and registered with a vet here in Örebro, which I am told is one of the best vets in the area and will not take new animals unless they're registered by one of his existing clients already. Plus he's giving us a book on raising cairns, a one-year membership in the Örebro cairn terrier club, he's got her insured and we have the option of taking over the insurance payments (which we will) and he's giving us a bag of the dog food she's accustomed to when we pick her up.
All in all, these are the signs of a careful and responsible breeder and I could highly recommend these people if you are thinking about a cairn terrier. Definitely not a puppy mill!
