Image credit: NASA Transit of Venus Starts Soon Jun 7, 2004 - We're just hours away from the first transit of Venus across the surface of the Sun since 1882. Sky watchers across Europe, Africa and Asia will be perfectly situated to watch the transit as it happens during the day. Venus' first contact begins on June 8 at 0513 UTC (1:13 am EDT) and completes approximately six hours later. You can watch the transit if you've got the right equipment (a properly set up telescope with a solar filter), but it can be extremely dangerous to watch with the unprotected eye. The Americas won't have a good view this time around, but don't worry, there's another coming in 8 years. (Full Story)

It's overcast here. I don't think that we will be able to see it in Stockholm. Rats.... I had been looking forward to this for months.

It's beautiful clear skies here and there are lots of people out here with specialised camera equipment standing at the high spots in town.

About 1.5 hours after I posted that it was overcast the skies cleared up. I missed it though. What time of the day was it?

it had started just after 8am ... I got to see the tiny little speck that it was ... until the ski closed up with overcasted weather.
If I remember the next one in 2012. I’ve seen two partial eclipses since I moved, last one was 80% ….. Oh & that famous comment that few past earth (HaleBob … ?) a number of years past.
