Whether one follows cycling or not I think one has to admire this man. He was told in 1999 that his testicular cancer had spread so much that it had even spread to his brain. The doctors said his prognosis was not good, and they told him his chances to race were out, not to mention that his life was in serious danger at that point. Wow did he prove everyone wrong! He is an inspiration for all cancer survivors. Should also add that in an age of superstar sports personalities that seem to get arrested weekly for spousal abuse, rape, drugs etc... it's nice to see someone who is still a decent person. I am very happy that he won today. He has broken the Tour record. I don't celebrate him because he is an American (though it's nice ) I celebrate him because he kicked cancer in the butt and came back with a thunder!

And one of the most phenomenal athletes of the last 100 years at the very least.
