ok, I am planning to go back to school once I get settled in Sweden and learn Swedish. My only problem is I'm not sure what I want to do. I am highly interested in language- more so foreign language than English- so I was thinking of getting a degree in a foreign language. I had thought about getting a degree in Arabic. I think it is a very interesting language and I like the sound of it. I am also interested in Middle Eastern culture. My husband thinks I'm crazy. I was wondering what kind of job opportunities something like this could lead to. I know there are a lot of Arabic speaking immigrants in Sweden. My husband thinks I should get the degree in German instead but I find that a little boring. I think my second choice would be Russian. I guess I just like the idea of learning a whole new alphabet. I think it would be a challenge. Any thoughts on this, anyone???

I think the Arabic - Swedish or Russian - Swedish combination would be fantastic for becoming a translator or language teacher.
As Dr. Seuss would say - "Oh, the things you could do...!"

There are tons of Arabic and Russian speaking immigrants here, many of whom need translation services. It's not a crazy idea. Especially with a medical background as well.
