Where is your favorite place to go skiing in Sweden?
We like Sälen, but our friends like Björnrike. I would love to make it back to Åre and Riksgränsen.
Are there any favorites?
This is considering distance and money is not a hindrance.
Why is it your favorite and if you have one that you HATE - why do you hate it?

I don't do downhill, but Anders says Åre is better than Riksgränsen, personal preference for him.

My husband likes Åre better than Riksgränsen, too. I like Riksgränsen because it was pretty empty when we were there and the skiing was great! Hubby says Åre is bigger and has more variety.
We've already picked our place for this winter break, but we're looking into 2006!

I don't downhill at all anymore and neither does Anders, and it doesn't look like we have many skiers here either.

That was one of my incorrect ideas about Sweden. I figured "everyone" skied. I was very surprised when I met my husband and he was psyched to have met a girl that skied. He said that there weren't a lot of people that downhill skied, most cross countried. I thought that there would have been lots of both. I also expected there to be more ski resorts in Sweden. I think there are as many ski resorts in Sweden as there are in Vermont!

I skied quite a bit in the past and I'm from CA. ha ha I haven't skied since '96 though and have not tried it here in Sweden. I have not met many here in Sweden who ski, my sambo does not. I think most people think Swedes are like the Swiss in their love of skiing.
Sorry I can't help you on your choice of places here in Sweden.
