I heard about this site from one of your members in NM. I live in Stockholm, teach in Nacka and come from North Carolina - been here since 1968.
I´ll drop in and check things out whenever I have the time, mostly at work( = almost every day).
Bye 4 now

Welcome! You are probably now the member who has been here in Sweden the longest. I think the record here before was 12 years. I've been here nearly 2.5 years and am in it for the long haul. Have a great one...

country, glad you made it here!
This is, as I mentioned, a pretty mellow site with a whole different perspective on life in Sweden (we LOVE it, for the most part). We do tend to be a little overloaded with estrogen here, so more male members are always welcome, especially if they wade in sometimes and give an additional perspective!

Don´t mind the female companionship. Have 3 grown-up daughters, so I´ve learned how to sit down in the bathroom ;D
Once you get used to it, makes you wonder why everybody doesn´t do it.

According to Feng Shui, the toalet seat must always be down (except when being used). Another Feng Shui thing is that the toalet door should always be painted red - don´t ask me why.
It is also more practical to have it down when not in use, in case you drop something, you don´t have to go fishing for it to get it back.

Do you know why the toilet seat must always be down?
If it's up, your money will be flushed down the toilet!

I heard that the toilet lid up was bad because it would allow good energy to flush out. I am no feng shui expert though, mainly I started a year ago with books, and moving things around in my apt for a better energy flow/chi. Do I sound kookey now, or what?

Well, I guess I know why we never seem to have any money now. I guess I'd better speak with Anders about leaving the lid down and get used to it myself.

I'm no Feng Shui expert myself, but my Chinese friend who likes it told me. I would definitely classify having money as having good energy around though, so maybe it's just the translators interpretations!
My friend has told me other things as well. Having the front door and back door in a direct line, sends the good energy straight through the house, no good energy remains, very bad.
A sunken living room traps the bad energy in the room.
And I don't remember the thing about sleeping with your head facing a certain direction. All I remember is that in our last house it was wrong and bad! Our heads were to the north.

More feng shui stuff:
Always have the bed arranged so that it is not visible from the bedroom door. (makes sense if you have kids around) ;D
Never have the bed under a window. (- who wants broken glass in bed if a tree falls?)

Okay, now I'm not sure if I understand Feng Shui anymore.
I read that the foot of the bed should never be directly opposite the doorway, however it was important that one should be able to see the doorway from the bed. The bed should never be under, or in front of a window. The more electronic stuff one has (TV, clock radio, computer etc..) it creates negative/bad energy in that room. A solid headboard against a wall will help to create good energy, whereas a nonexistent or divided/cut out headboard will not.
If you choose to believe in this is up to you, this is just some things that I heard about, they could be wrong.

Yeah,
as you say - I just expressed it differently, but agree with your version.
can´t say I bother to live by it, but find it interesting.
