I have citronmeliss (I believe that is either lemon balm, or lemon verbena) growing on my balcony. Does anyone know what to do with it? Is there some medicinal quality to it? I added a sprig of it to some ice tea but it didn't add any flavor. It just looked nice, like a little mint leaf.

I know this is a late reply, but I've been away for the summer. Maybe this link will help you out. The plant is Lemon balm. Just look it up in the English index and it gives some uses for the plant.

I didn't see the link Aussie. Could you re-post it?
My citronmellis is now dried up but I'd like to replant again next year and enjoy it during the summer. It smells wonderful. I'd just love to use it for something...
Though I have been living in Sweden for close to 3.5 years it still feels strange to speak about seasons. I come from California and there aren't many seasons there. Most plants can grow there yearround, any gardening tip that I can get regarding seasons is helpful (though I think you wrote that you are from Sydney, and it doesn't really get so cold there.)
By the way, when I was 14 years old we almost moved to Sydney. We went to Australia for a month looking around the east coast mainly. We rented a car and drove from Townsville, to Brisbane, and then we flew out to the Grand Hayman Islands, then we drove to Melbourne, Sydney, and Perth. You should have seen my Dad trying to drive on the other side of the road. He was not used to it at all, and he nearly killed us a couple times. My Dad had received a job offer at a University to work in Sydney. In the end we stayed in California. It was easier for him, and we didn't have to move. I really liked it there down under though. I would not have been sad if we had moved.
My Dad still loves Australia very much, in fact he will be going there to visit some friends in 3 weeks. He has made some lifetime friends there, they are wonderful.

If you hold your mouse over the words "this link" in my post it will take you there It works okay for me, but in case it's some odd computer glitch, the full link is www-ang.kfunigraz.ac.at/~katzer/engl/generic_frame.html?Myri_fra.htmlI'm glad you liked Australia. I think it's a very special place, too. I come from Adelaide (on the south coast) and we have a Mediterranean climate. We have seasons, but nothing as dramatic as those here in Sweden And if you think your dad's driving was funny, you should have checked out ME driving on Swedish roads. At first I just followed other cars, but got really stuck if there was no other car and I had to turn. I was on the wrong side a few times My poor Swede went grey overnight ;D
