I'm just about to undertake a big challenge......to bake a birthday cake for my nephew. I've baked cakes before of course but never done the marzipan covering or made things to place on the cake. I've got my recipe looked out and now I'm about to head to the supermarket to pick up the things I need. The best way I think is for me to ask what things are in Swedish even if they may seem obvious so that I don't get to the shop and find out I've forgotten to find out what one of the requirements is! Phew now I've got that all written down here's my list:
Apricot Jam Marzipan Sugarpaste icing (I don't know, perhaps I have to make this?) Food colouring Royal icing (again maybe I have to make this?) Piping Bags Nozzles

Well, we really need Cake Guru right now, but I do know that marzipan is marsipan and that apricot is aprikos and jam is sylt. Don't know what sugarpaste icing is, but you do have to make royal icing. Food coloring will be right by all the baking stuff, with the sprinkles and things like that, and color is färg, but I'm sure you'll recognize it when you see it. Good luck.

Well so far so good, managed to get everything I need apart from the sugarpaste icing. I've done searches on google etc but haven't been able to come up with anything! If, and only if it's a success I may just post a picture ;D

Aw c'mon Lisa...we're supposed to share our successes AND our failures! ;D From what I can tell kids are nuts over the marzipan. If the cake does flop (and I don't think it will!) just use cookie cutters and make fun shapes with the marzipan.

The little fellow arrives tomorrow so I´m excited to see his reaction Now I´ve done that I feel like I want to try others but probably won´t as it won´t do my healthy eating any good.
