I make my own ornaments every year. I find some I like and make a few so each year I have a little more, or I have some to replace old or broken ornaments. *L* Some years ago I made the cinnamon ornaments. They are SUPER easy. You mix equal parts applesauce (that's right!) and cinnamon with a little nutmeg and clove until you have a nice dough. Powder your rolling surface with cinnamon and roll out the dough, sprinkling with cinnamon if it sticks. Roll it to about a quarter inch thickness and cut out with cookie cutters and cut a hole for hanging, a straw works great. Lay them out on newspaper, turning once or twice a day until dry. It can take between 3 to 5 days for them to dry. If you don't turn them they will curl up. They smell fabulous, look nice and have lasted amazingly for 3 years now! Last year I made snowflakes too! *L* This year I'm making these little snowmen: www.hancockfabrics.com/projects/aleenes/Han_Buttonsnowman/snowman.htm

I just found the recipe for those a couple of weeks ago and plan to make them. It's good to hear tips from someone already has. I still can't sew, so tatting is out. I did make my own straw ornaments. I got some dried plants that look like bleached wheat, cut them all the same length, arranged them and tied them with a red ribbon. They work well with the regular Swedish decorations and will look good with my new straw PIG to go under the tree. hahaha I never thought a pig would be part of my decor!
