Moa Martinsson is another of the classics in the Swedish library! Her books are very well written as well and they are also interesting as they tell you more about what Sweden and Swedish society was like way back when...
Helga Maria aka Moa was born in 1890 in Vårdnäs in Östergötland and died in 1964. She worked as a school teacher and wrote in social democratic newspapers. From 1929 to 1940 she was married to poet Harry Martinson. Her books often picture women's role in rural Sweden
These are her books:
Kvinnor och äppelträd, 1933, novel
Sallys söner, 1934, novel
Rågvakt, 1935, novel
Mor gifter sig, 1936, novel
Drottning Grågyllen, 1937, novel
Motsols, 1937, poetry
Kyrkbröllop, 1938, novel
Kungens rosor, 1939, novel
Vägen under stjärnorna, 1940, novel
Brandliljor, 1941, novel
Armén och horisonten, 1942, memoirs
Den osynlige älskaren, 1943, novel
Bakom svenskvallen, 1944, memoirs
Kärlek mellan krigen, 1947, memoirs
Livets fest, 1949, novel
Jag möter en diktare, 1950, memoirs
Du är den enda, 1952, novel
Kvinnorna på Kummelsjö, 1955, novel
Klockor vid Sidenvägen, 1957, novel
Hemligheten, 1959, novel
The ones I have read are Mor gifter sig, Kyrkbröllop and Kungens Rosor, in which Moa describes the life of a little girl and how she sees what happens in her life and in the world around her.
The books are written in a more oldfashioned sort of Swedish, very much like Moberg. I think Moberg, Martinson and Lagerlöf are the authors that I like the best because they use the old Swedish, which is a very beautiful language
