I want to buy some pelargons in Britain, but the nursery doesn't take credit cards, so I need to find something like a money order. Any idea where I could go in Sweden to purchase a British sterling cheque or whatever so I can get my plants? Forex perhaps? Anders has never done this so has no idea.
Also, international reply coupons, purchase from posten? I need two to buy a catalogue from the UK as well.

Cakes are only as good as what you put in them.

You can purchase a check of foreign currancy at your bank. The surcharge at my bank is 120 per check. Therefore, I pay 2-3 big payments a year on my student loan instead of once a month!
Can't help you with the other, ask at the PO!

Okay, that really sucks. So in order to buy a 25 GBP check, I have to pay about 10 GBP, I don't think so. So now I need to figure out another way to do this. God, I wish more places would take debit cards.

Do they not take credit cards, or just not take debit cards?
I'd also check into importing plants to make sure it's alright. Otherwise they might be stopped and destroyed in customs.

No, this guy doesn't take debit or credit cards at all, and unfortunately, he has the largest and most incredible selection of regal pelargons in Europe just about.
You can import and export plants within the EU, no problem. It's just the US that is paranoid about importations, for good reasons in some cases. You can actually get plants sent from Canada and the US to Sweden as well, provided you're made of money for the air freight costs!

Have you thought about Western Union? (www.westernunion.com) They accept payment with both credit and debit card. I did this once as a payment from Sweden to be sent to the US. It cost me $2.95 this was 3 years ago. Another option is PayPal. (www.paypal.com) If this company in the UK accepts this as payment it is a simple online transaction also with a debit or credit card and will cost about $1.50 Another option is a bank to bank transfer. Within the EU the cost is a few dollars. Going with an international bank money order is the most expensive way to go try these others first.

I just made a payment last week to a UK bank account from my Swedish bank account. I bank with FöreningsSparbanken here in Sweden and was able to do it via internet banking for around £2-£3 which was cheap in my mind however it did take 5 or 6 banking days to get there. You do need to have the following information in order to do it: International Bank Account Number Branch Identifier Code I would definitely recommend this method if you can wait around a week for the funds to reach the recipient.

This guy won't accept ANYTHING but cheques, but fortunately, I found a friend in the UK, to whom I can send money and THEY will write a check to this small business, so problem finally solved.

I would have opted for a trip to the UK, instead! Then I could have gotten a crockpot, too!
