The local newspaper has just posted a list of substitutes if you run out on Thanksgiving Day and don't want to run to the store. Brown sugar is listed as, per packed up, take 1 cup of white sugar and 3 Tablespoons of molasses. Since molasses is pretty much similar to the dark bread syrup you find in Sweden, voila! Instant brown sugar.

What a great substitute. I'm writing that one in my substitute book. I used molasses instead of dark corn syrup and my candied sweet potatoes came out really good! My cook book didn't tell me a substitute for it.
