I moved from Oregon to Kiruna in Sept. 2001. I think I'm adjusted. Sorta.

Yesterday I had quite a shock when I found fresh okra in the produce section at Obs. I never expected to see it here so I bought some without realizing that I have no idea how to do anything with it. Okra is not available in Oregon, so I've only had it when I visit my relative down south.
Anyway, the only thing I know to do with okra is to fry it. I love fried okra, though at this point I'm wondering if my tummy can handle it. I stopped eating fried foods when I moved over here.
So, how do you make fried okra? I know my aunt uses corn meal to make the batter, but that's about all I know. I have both polenta and majsmjöl (I think the majsmjöl makes a much tastier corn bread).
Thanks for the help!

www.recipesource.com/You can get just about any recipe in the world on this site. It's wonderful and I'm sure you can find at least 10 different ways to fry okra.

Thanks! That was really great. You were wrong though. They only had 7 ways to cook it Stir Fried Okra with Spices sounds a lot healthier than Grandmother's Southren Fried Okra. What about Fried Okra Soup? That might be slimey. *off to see about frying some okra*
