OK I'm going to ROME on the 15th. ;D (adding happy dance smilie) I'm making a simple list for the older generation who are traveling with us and others who are NOT knowledge with the food. My little list has simple greetings to BIG small bottle of VINO from what soup & salad is called. I've done the basic meats ... rice & veggies (boiled potatis ) Now my question is this. What are some of the basic pasta sauces ?? I know Alfredo ... Carbonara ... and and ................ ?

Pesto (olive oil base with fresh basil, garlic, parmesan cheese, pine nuts) and bolognaise (basic tomato sauce, isn't it?)

It's not a sauce, but refers to any dish cooked with spinach. Chicken Florentine, etc.
