Anybody out there having any luck finding these elusive, tasty mushrooms? We were out yesterday, tromping all over our favorite places that are usually loaded, and we found THREE lousy mushrooms, THREE! I figured after the several days of rain we had and then the sunshine yesterday, we'd be raking in the 'shrooms. I know you can't count on the same place having them every year, but three is just ridiculous. Maybe the long, hot summer did something to retard the spores?

This year was rather early for kantareller ... Peter started picking them as early as July very odd for Småland it's usually september Peter & his dad get out into the woods.

Wow, July! Okay, so maybe we just missed them. Drat, I love getting a bunch, sauteeing them in butter and then freezing them for about January or so. They add so much flavor to a stew. I guess I could just give up and go buy some.
