Not sure if this subject has been covered on PS but I would like to know the products that are available in Sweden? Since my move I've had a real hard time with food (well pork mainly) & since I'm married to a hunting family the catch of the daybrings new meaning ... I'm rather picky & always loved my veggies and salads... but there must be products out there.

I saw something in the store, "quarn" or something like that, isn't that like soy protein or tofu? I think Cake Guru is a vegetable-tarian.

Natooke, Maybe this Swedish Vegan site has some things that you can eat. The Quorn that Carolyn mentions is a soya based product - it is available in the freezer section as "cutlets", cubed or as a minced meat substitute. You can also buy a dried version in the section where the beans and lentils are. Then there is tofu - also readily available as are most of the pulses. The Middle Eastern grocery stores have a good selection, but I can also buy these things in Konsum, ICA and Willy's. We mostly eat vegetarian food so I buy a lot of the pulses and beans. The other site that I liked was the Vegetarian Julrecept site. A few great ideas there as well.

Natooke, When I was shopping today I had a closer look at the dried vegetarian products. They are made in Sweden by Friggs. As you can see from the link, there are a variety of mixes and the boxes are marked if for Lakto-vegetarist or vegan etc which is also helpful. It is soya based products and I've used the färsmix, the vegetariska grytbitar and the vegoburgare mix. I haven't tried the others as I prefer to just use the basic mix and spice it to my own taste. As well as the quorn mixes in the freezer section that I mentioned in my other post, there is also a range of vegetarian sausages, hot dogs, hamburgers etc, if you like that sort of thing. And the Friggs site has some good recipes for vegetarian food.
