I've just moved to Stockholm from the country, where I had a huge garden. That's one thing I'm going to miss when spring and summer arrive. I know that many people have a koloni or garden lot in designated spaces. Does anyone know how to go about acquiring such a plot here in Stockholm? Thanks in advance, SteveH

Steve, the only thing I know about koloniområde (except that I probably just spelled it wrong) is you can contact your kommundel and generally they have some information. Anders and I are going to be looking for one once we get back home. The ones nearest our house are charming, but seem to pass down from father to son, but I understand you can get ones further out from town.
And you would be surprised what you can accomplish on just a small balcony as well. The last summer we were in Orebro, we had, in window boxes and pots, a clematis, gladioli, sunflowers, a HUGE pumpkin vine, petunias, about 6 kinds of geranium, a net containing sweetpeas, alyssum, nastursiums, lavender, two dahlias, pansies, miniature roses, some violets, saxifrage and some assorted plants, whose names I have temporarily forgotten.
