Okay, it wasn't as cheap as I wanted (those go FAST), but it's gonna be fun and they are bought and paid for.
We fly out of New York City on 31 March via Austrian Airlines. We arrive in Vienna at 9 in the morning and don't fly out to Stockholm until 5 p.m., which means we can take a bus into town and see a little of Austria, at least drink some coffee with whipped cream and eat some sachertorte maybe.
I think it was a pretty good deal, the two of us have one-way tickets from NYC to Stockholm for $342 apiece, which is the cost INCLUDING taxes, security fees and sending the tickets to us via air courier.
Amtrak is running a buy one ticket, get one free special, which means we take the train from Albuquerque to New York and it's going to cost us $133 total, plus we get to ride on a train and see a little of the country as well. We get into New York on Sunday evening, spend the night in a hotel to get rested, and have a few hours to look around the next day (look out Metropolitan Museum, here I come) and then fly out of JFK at 5:30 p.m.
