Okay, all of you out there KNOW what a computer moron I am. Last month, we downloaded two programs, Earthlink, to try them as a server (NO!) and one called Mozilla. Somewhere in there, we also got some incredibly irritating pop-ups tied into us from GAIN and Gater. We've taken away Earthlink and Mozilla, but the pop-up ads are still with us, to the point of insanity. I tried a basic search to see if they were lurking somewhere on my hard disk under both Gain and Gater, but nothing shows up.
Anybody have any ideas how to get rid of this crap?

I doubt the culprit was Mozilla, since we use it on all our machines here and one of its' features is a pop up ad disable feature. You could try installing and running Ad Aware from www.lavasoftusa.com/ . I have been using this for the past year or so and it looks for spyware etc. Not sure if it will solve your problem but it might.

Thanks, Kitty, I'll give it a try (or rather, Anders will).
