It's not silly! I can totally relate to the feeling. I am in desperte need of a hair cut myself, but am trying to wait until I get back to the States in May so that the people doing my hair for the wedding can have something to work off. I don't think I'm going to make it though. Right now my hair is long enough to make a stubby 1/2 inch ponytail if I were to use lots of barrettes, and I can't stand it. Funny, since before I moved here I never had hair this short. The lady who cuts my hair here never listens to me at all. She just does what she thinks looks good. I would complain, but she is always right so I have nothing to complain about. Carrie

Oh lord, I HATE hairdressers like that. Fortunately, Örebro has about 50,000 hairdressers to a population of 120,000, so I got a pretty good cut there, but then Anders took me to the lady who usually does his hair.
I just got about 8 inches whacked off on Friday and feel pretty good. I've gotten away from the "dyed" hair look, where the ends are brighter colored than the rest, and I'm now into the length that says "looks pretty natural, but definitely going grey". Fortunately, as my hairdresser said, it looks like I'm going to be pretty near silvery white instead of a mousy or steel grey, so I don't mind.

I have a fear of new hairdressers, so in the 2 years I have been in Sweden I have not had a hair cut. It has gone from just past my shoulders to my waist in that time. I am getting it cut in a week when I am back in Canada. I leave tomorrow!!! I can't wait to go home, and I can't wait to get my hair cut, it's a huge mess right now!

I could not wait until it grew out ... thank goodness I keep my hair real short and have it cut every 6 to 8 weeks. However I did talk to the owner of the Salon (neighbour) on how angry I was ... she gave me a free highlights of choice I wanted (gula slingar) ;D So I hear you ladies ... I have a huge fear my self ... even more because I've become mousy grey and need a few highlights ... but not colour of a pumpkin thanks!

Oh god, that picture looks just like our dog Maliq after he sneezes. He's a Yorkshire-Maltshire-Pomeranian cross and has lots of long, soft hair and I've been calling him Einstein every time he sneezes. Anders calls him Johnny Rotten.

What is it with Swedish hairdressers anyway? There are TONS of them around, it seems to be almost a nation of hairdressers from all the shops in town, but it seems to be hard to find one that does what YOU want done.
Does anybody have any really good experiences there with their hairdresser? I admit, I got a reasonable cut, but I went in with long hair and told her to take off about 2 inches, which she did, and with long-straight hair, there aren't that many options. But I keep hearing horror stories.

Well I dont know what it is with hairdressing and Sweden, but there are tons of people here working with that.
Where I live there are mostly Immigrants and the ladies around here are all Immigrant hairdressers, ladies of diverse background working as hairdressers.
I have no idea why they dont do what you want them to do, but I think it has to do with money! Believe me, the woman who did my hair today is making a ton of money!!
When I got to the salon I was almost in a shock because it was so funny to see how she had decorated the place! It is a Barbie salon!! All is pink and the curtains are pink and there is even a big clock on the wall with a Barbie on it....

That should tip you off right there, any grown woman that is decorating with Barbie as a motif is looking to play "dolls" with other women's hair and the idea of cutting that hair off so you can't play "Princess Barbie" or whatever is probably against her very ethics!

For a good experience, the girl here in tiny Torup who gave me a perm gave me the absolute best one I ever had. My trouble was when I needed a haircut and was going to have to wait two weeks to get in to see her. Mats and I went to another place. His hair was fine. Mine was a total mess. It was right before I went to America and my sister told me it looked like I had two different haircuts. It was razored on top down to fuzz on the ends. My hairdresser friend in America knows I like a little length and I had to have her cut it three times to fix the mess he made. That was the only thing to do. My hair hasn't been so short in years. I was so excited the other day that I had to send my sister an e-mail....I leaned over to do something and could see one curl. I could see hair without looking in the mirror!! hahaha Next time I'll wait two weeks, a month, however long I have to.

Hehe yes you are right Carolyn, I should have been warned by the Barbie things! But, I always want to be good and think that all people are good and have a good intention, but now I see that all she wanted was to play with my hair and make me into something that she thinks is pretty! Well, I do NOT think that it looks bad, in fact, it looks very very nice, but the thing is that it really wasnt what I wanted. I wanted my hair really short because I dont want to have to spend a lot of time in the morning with my hair, I dont have the hands for that, nor the interest, nor the time ( Id rather sleep a few more minutes ...)
