Partly for Pam and Carolyn, but would like input from others as well.
I am working on the web page and have gotten quite a bit done in the food section.
There still is a lot to be done, but mostly what I would like you to look at are the articles. While rereading these, it seems to me a lot of this info is out of date now. The original articles were written over 2 years ago, and the updates over a year ago.
A couple of ideas..
1. Have the author of the article rewrite the articles with current information.
2. Have an "archived articles" section in which those articles will be placed along with a comments section where visitors can add to the original info. For instance:
from Carolyn's grocery shopping article
-The main chains are ICA (pronounced E-ka), Konsum, Vivo and B&W (pronounced
Bee oh Vee). Know also that a lot of these stores, at least in the larger
cities, have shelves of American foods, leaning heavily towards Old El Paso
brand Mexican food, even offering at least medium heat chopped green chilies,
not just the mild, a break-through to those of us from the Southwest......
Then visitors could comment something like:
*B&W was changed to Coop Forum in November of 2001-Jane Doe
*Another great store is Willy's. They have really cheap food.-Josiah B. Turnbull
*Don't Forget PrisXtra. They have a great mexican food section with much more than just Old ElPaso. - Lolly McFooh
* Smart Club is another great one and no longer requires a membership. - Joan C. Visitor
etc....
That way the article doesn't have to be rewritten every year and visitors get current info. Not to mention info from various others who might have found something the author hasn't.
Or possibly someone here has a better idea. I am open to suggestions. I just feel like a pest asking the author's of the current articles to rewrite them every time a small detail changes. Yet I don't want visitor's to be misinformed.
And as always, we welcome all contributions for new articles. I have many ideas for articles I would like to write myself, but first need to get the webpage back up and put together.
The recipes section is what I have worked most on recently. I think it is looking good though I have a lot of work left on it. When you click on a recipe you will see it on a white background. That isn't what the final format will look like. So keep that in mind. But other than that I welcome suggestions on how it could be made better...more categories, etc. Oh and I will be adding a vegetarian category as well.
Hmm...so I think that is all I wanted to say. Anyway, check it out and let me know your ideas.
