Lawyers in New York have just filed a class action lawsuit against McDonald's, claiming that the company has led to obesity, diabetes and other health related problems in children. Yeah, like the kids and their parents had NO choice in the matter. Like it hasn't been understood for years and years that overeating and fatty foods lead to health problems and obesity.
What about lawsuits against parents who stop on the way to daycare to get the Egg McMuffins (one is NOT enough) and the Coke, and then pick their kids up at daycare late in the evening and run through the nearest fast food drive-through to feed their kids? Where is their responsibility? Where's the lawsuit from the kids' attorneys there?
I once knew a stay-at-home mom who hated to cook and fed her 3 kids 3 times a day at McDonald's, week after week, varied by the occasional trip to Wendy's or Kentucky Fried.

Hey, maybe I can sue my mom's estate.....after all, I inherited my diabetes from her. And she did feed us lots of beans and taters growing up. What a crock of shit! If that actually makes it before a judge it's just one more reason I'm glad I moved.

It actually is a filed lawsuit, probably go to along with the one from the 500 pound man, who is suing McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, and all those other places because he ate there 5 days a week and is now a hippo.

I think that casting blame on McDonald's is going too far. How can they say that it was only McDonald's specifically and no other restaurant or fatty food product? Why not also sue, Frito-Lay Corp, M&M Mars, other fast food places, the movie theaters for selling fatty popcorn and hot dogs, Entenmanns for those pasteries, and any bakery or donut place in America etc... This list of foods or places that could make on fat are endless. Singling out McDonald's as the only place that would make someone fat is ridiculous.

Precisely, but the sharks (lawyers) have the scent of blood in the water and they're going to attack. If nothing else, they hope the bad publicity will pay off in a settlement to avoid this kind of nuisance suit.
I just got this great book which I have not read yet, which is describing modern America and the culture of being a nation of victims. Nobody takes personal responsibility anymore. Nobody will admit, "I made a bad choice, it's my fault". NOOOOOO, it's got to be somebody else's fault. Otherwise, our self-esteem might suffer and god forbid, we should think less of ourselves for making bad choices.
A professor of Anders when he was at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, once told him that the role of schools in America nowadays is to make students feel good about themselves. Maybe that's why so many students can no longer find their own country on a blank map now?
