For all you old "Northern Exposure" fans, Peg Phillips, the wonderful actress that created the role of Ruth Ann has died at the age of 84 from lung disease.
I have never been a huge TV fan but this one series hooked me in from the start and one of my all-time favorites was Ruth Ann, the crusty old shopkeeper who rode Harleys.
Peg Phillips, the actress, turned to acting after she retired from her career as an accountant at the age of 65. On Northern Exposure, she showed that women need neither be Barbie doll beautiful OR young in order to continue to have an active life, both in business as well as being sexually desirable, and that growing past your 50s didn't mean that you might as well be dead.
One of my favorite episodes was when she took Chris's Harley and rode off into the wilderness and joined up with a bunch of bikers for the day.
Wherever you've gone, Peg, thanks for the memories and the inspiration.

Thanks for posting that poem and photo. I hope when my turn comes to shuffle off this mortal coil, people will remember me like that.
