Since we began using the heater my sinuses have been dry as sand. I found a cool air humidifier that I know would help but it was around $300 and I'd need two of them. I also searched high and low for the ceramic thingies to hang on elements with no luck. What I finally got was plastic ones. I could tell a huge difference the first night I had one in the bedroom. I found them at COOP in the plant section for under $10. Just wanted to share in case anyone else was having problems with dry air.

I just bought my winter's supply of "snot in a tube", also known as Ayr saline nasal gel. Between the gas heat and the New Mexico high altitude and dryness, without that stuff, I wake up every morning with blood in my nose. I keep offering it to Anders, but so far, the testosterone won't let him admit that he needs things like nasal gel and lots of aloe for the skin.

Here's a trick... When I had floor vents I took small aluminum baking pans, hung them in the vents with paper clips and kept them filled with water and added whichever essential oil I wanted or needed.

What are those things to hand over the heaters you guys are talking about? What do they do?
Last year when we still lived in our old apt we used a humidifier in the bedroom when we slept. This worked well until we noticed that the paint on the ceiling was starting to chip off, and the wallpaper started to curl as a result of the moisture. We have since moved to a new place and have just painted and don't dare to use the humidifier now. So if this other thing you guys are talking about works it would be great!
