I went and saw this today in Malmö på svenskla with the best MIL in the world. I had seen it in the US (with Donnie Osmond, no less) and this was every bit as good. I even understood most of the lyrics. Anyone who can see it should.
Ï am really thankful for Tyra...she makes my life complete. She is 82 amd was really accepting of me. She repeats for me and uses words I understand. It is good training for me to spend the day with her as she speaks NO English.
What a gem!

I'm very lucky too to have the most awesome MIL there is ... she vowed long ago that she would take me on as her duaghter ... ;D We chat every day ... taken trips together ... she has never walked into "my" kitchen with white gloves on nor has she ever thought I was never good enough for her youngest son. She is a gem ... one of my best friends ... I'm her daughter she never had ... I'm so lucky. ;D

Anyone who marries into a family and gains a family is lucky. I know my friend, Naomi, has some of the most wonderful Swedish in-laws, and I have been blessed with two loving step-children myself.

I havent had the chance to speak to my mother or father in law yet, since I havent been to Canada all we have is telephone, but I have however spoken to my sisters in law and they are very very nice! I have used chat to talk to my FIL and he is a great man! I have also had the chance to chat with his new wife and she is also great! I am very happy that my inlaws and my new family have been so accepting and so ready to meet me! I cant wait to see them and when I come back from our trip next year I will post some of our pics, so you can see what it was like

Well, Les, you have good family back in the States, and some of the people I know in Sweden who have been blessed with good in-laws have the families from hell back in the States, so maybe it's compensation? Not everybody, of course, but I know one or two people who have love from their in-laws that they have NEVER gotten from their own families.

I agree with you Carolyn, although it is a pity not to have love from both your real biological family as well as your in law family. Of course there are those you get along with and those you just cant stand, but for the most part it is nice if you at least can get along....

Leslie and Natooke I hear ya! I didn't want to say anything, because you know - if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all....
But I know what you're going through!! I think it's that Swedish jänte lagen - they see that you have more and they're jealous. That's the only explanation I can come up with. (And when I say more I mean in friendships and happiness!)
Good luck you guys - just know that there are more of us out there with in-laws from hell than you think!

My MIL and SIL are just fine. They talk to me and like it much better now that I can communicate some in Swedish. My MIL tries to learn the English for special events, like Happy Birthday, Happy Easter, Merry Christmas, and stuff like that. She's so proud of herself and I really get a kick out of it that she does it for me. Now, if you want to talk step-kids... from H-E-double hockeystick describes it very well!
