It is cloudy, dark and rainy here in Stockholm today. It has been like this for 3 days. What's the weather like where you are?

Same here. But I am crazy, I love the gloomy weather. It just makes it all that much more cozy indoors!

YOu will HATE to hear this, but the sky is blue, the sun is shining and the trees are starting to go yellow in the park across the street. It's getting down into the low 40s at night and the mornings are crisp, but it gets to the high 60s still.

Anna, It was sunny for awhile this morning, and it was nice Thursday. But you are right...it has been gloomy this afternoon!
Poor Beverly has snow!
My mom says it was 97 in their part of the world yesterday! Wowza!!

Yeah I know Leslie. My sister lives in Houston and it is really warm there as well. It is also warm in my hometown of San Diego right now. Oh by the way, painting sucks!

I moved from Oregon to Kiruna in Sept. 2001. I think I'm adjusted. Sorta.

Winter is here in a big way up in Kiruna. We have snow and ice. We put the studded tires on the car yesterday. It's starting to get dark earlier and earlier. . . . Can I survive another winter up here?

Of course you can survive. Roll over in the morning and look at that face next to you on the bed and remind yourself that home is where the heart is, no matter how dark and snowy.

Cold here in Sollentuna ( Stockholm Northern Suburbia Land) and it is windy too, so to go outside means to go for an adventure in the closet first! Longjohns, thick socks, thick sweater! You name it, its on me!

We dove from Härnösand to Gävle last night and snow chased us the whole way. We woke up to white trees and ground!
I rushed home from work so I could shovel before it melted away!

I remember the first winter there when I was still going to SFI. I had on a pair of nylon pantyhose, a pair of long Spandex AND my jeans over that, plus two pairs of socks. And I did find that after the temperature is below -5 (about 26-28?), that you can't bike because the wind chill factor caused by the movement of the bike turns your fingers into icecubes, even with two pairs of gloves on.
I am grateful still for finding and buying the Army surplus winter coats at Överscottsbolaget (?), even though they weigh what feels like five pounds apiece. You could camp in Kiruna wearing one of those, mid-winter, and still be sweating. AND only 149SEK, such a deal.

Oh yes I agree, I have bought some stuff at Överskottsbolaget too and they have been pretty good! I havent yet needed to buy this that you mentioned, but Im glad to hear it keeps you warm, thanks for the idea, could be something I may have to look into! Over here in Sollentuna winters arent getting as cold as elsewhere, but we do have our share of cold weather! I have been to Överskottsbolaget´s shops for summer clothing and shoes as well as cookies and other such things! It is a really good place to get cheap but good cookies or chocolates! For all of you living in the Stockholm area, the place to go for cheap and good looking stuff is SKÄRHOLMEN, where they have a very good mix of Swedish things as well as Immigrant based things, the Skärholmen mall is a wonderful place, since it has on the inside a mix of all the common " Swedish" stores such as H and M, Lindex and ICA and much more, in a very nicely done mall with a modern and fresh look to it and on the outside and sorrounding are a ton of stores run by Immigrants with clothes from all over the world and also a Deli store, where you can buy food and such from everywhere. They also have a very good furniture store, with beautiful furniture with good prices, not to mention the gift shop, filled with all kinds of beautiful glass items and dinner sets! That is the place to go on a gloomy day and just look at everything in the stores and all the people there in their lovely colourful dresses!

I like Skärholmen centrum! My husband works in that part of Stockholm so I take the subway sometimes to meet him. Have you been to the middle eastern grocery store there? They have lots of goodies!! I like the Jysk there too! ;D

I have also been there to Skärholmen. They have a flea market/loppmarket there on the weekends. Some of the stuff people sell is junk, but others are ood stuff. It is crowded and kind of dirty, but it's fun for me. I haven't been around the mall that much, and I should. Where is the middle eastern store?

The middle eastern store is just outside of teh mall, on one of the smaller streets around teh mall itself. I love going there since there are so many things to see. Hubby and I have been around to all teh suburbs in Stockholm, so if there is anything you want to know about one, just let me know!
