Hey guys! I usually run outside, but now that I am working it is too dark when I get home. Home in Linköping we have a great lighted 2.5k path, and I can run a total of 5k by running there, around it and back without ever hitting darkness. In Gränna it is a different situation, it is PITCH black!!
I like to swim too, so I may start up on that here in Jönköping too. I may join the swim hall for both motionsimning and the health club part.
What do YOU guys do for exercise in the winter??? I really hate that my weekly commute is making my workouts fewer, I have done NOTHING in that department so far this week and I feel like a blob!
Maybe tonight I will try to run if I buy some reflectors or something.

Im mostly a walker! I like to walk and I have walked a great deal with hubbby around Stockholm and here in Sollentuna. We dont have a car so we have to walk or take a train or bus to everywhere, this is something that I actually enjoy since it means I get to mmove around more! In the winter we dont do too much, just walk as usual. I think it is very good what you are planning and I hope you can get your run, with some light! I agree with you though, I dislike to walk in complete darkness!! Here in Sollentuna there is pretty good light around where we live, but when we want to go for walks we wait to a day when Im off school or something and can spend the day out walking....

In Örebro, we have a great series of paths just about 5 minutes from our apartment. You can do a 2.5K, a 5K, 10K or 15K, by following a second path that connects. I'm not a runner, I'm a walker, but my husband says they are incredible for running. The paths are through the woods and are covered in wood chips (less problems with shin splints, I gather) and they're lit all winter long. I am told that if we ever get enough snow for long enough, they groom them for cross-country skiing, which I DO like.
The swimming baths are pretty far away but reachable by bus, and I may consider doing that once we get back home again, since I need to do something during the winters. We do go out on our bikes if it's not too cold and the roads are clear, but below -5, the wind chill works its way through my gloves and my fingers turn into ice cubes.

Either that, or we should move to Linköping, which, by the way, is my husband's home town.

[glow=lightgrey,2,300]I do my Leslie Sansone Walk Away The Pounds tapes or my Richard Simmons tapes. I also walk the dogs, but not for very far when it's -24C outside.[/glow]

Now that winter is coming back, I thought this should be bumped up to the top again, and with a reminder to ALL of you out there, women and men alike, the cold and wind, as well as the indoor heat, is brutal to ANY complexion, so it is just as important now to be slapping on that moisturizer. I found a great cream in England called Boots Olive, Orange and Bergamot Body Butter that was quite inexpensive, not greasy and has the real advantage of smelling lovely too. Keep some cream on the sink in the bathroom, by the sink in the kitchen and other convenient places and get in the habit of "greasing" up. Your skin will thank you years from now when people around you look like a roadmap from hell and your face and hands are still nice and (hopefully) wrinkle-free. ;D

That is so true Carolyn. Keep moisturized ladies! I use Nivea Body Lotion since that is what my mom's cancer hospital uses and I get it for free thru mom hehe Now that winter is coming back, I thought this should be bumped up to the top again, and with a reminder to ALL of you out there, women and men alike, the cold and wind, as well as the indoor heat, is brutal to ANY complexion, so it is just as important now to be slapping on that moisturizer.
