Pretty much after a sort of trip from hell. Night before I left, they slammed me with a must do job that was critical and I got to bed at 4.25 a.m. and woke again to go to the airport around 6.30. Had to change planes twice before getting on the London plane and then was dumped into a 2.5 hour wait to clear Customs in London, missing Anders at the airport AND the hotel, and only finding him by luck in the street. PLUS it was incredibly HOT in London, etc., AND although they let you have 70 pounds per bag when you are flying international, they will only allow you 44 pounds within Europe, so guess who was running around breaking down things, boxing them and trying to mail the necessities over about 45 pounds!
Oh well, I made it anyway and after a little sleep, I already have a job I have to start, but I'll be in touch

Silly girl, don't you know the British don't mind what you do as long as you don't do it in the road and frighten the horses!

We stayed in a pretty nice B&B just a couple blocks from Kings Cross and within walking distance of the British Museum. It was particularly nice since Kings Cross is a stop on the Piccadilly line underground, which runs directly from Healthrow, so no changes with luggage.
We paid 141 GBP for 3 nights. The room was small and up two flights of narrow stairs, but overlooked a little park, and at night, you really didn't hear much in the way of noise from Euston Road, which I was worried about at the start. Anders didn't think much of the full British breakfast, mostly because like most B&Bs in England, the coffee was instant, the toast was cold, and they serve you beans with breakfast, unless you remember not to ask for them, but I thought it was okay. It was clean, centrally located and for the money in a major world capital, you don't do much better.

Yeah! You made it. Glad to have you back in Sweden, and just in time for fall too. What was the name of the B & B you stayed at? Anders and I have been thinking of going to London for a weekend sometime, and need cheap yet comfortable accomodations. As long as they are clean we don't care if the rooms are small.

www.macdonaldhotel.com/page2.htmActually, there are tons of these little B&Bs around the Kings Cross area, there must have been 50 within a 2-block radius. Mind you, for the price we paid, we had to go next door to the toilet and shower, but hey, that's European anyway. Do you really want to pay an additional 10-15 GBP a night so you can go to the toilet in your own room? We found some charming pubs in the neighborhood too that served lovely meals, and I'll write more later. It was so good to be back in England, my spiritual home.

Welcome home, Carolyn!
Bummer about the flight, but these things happen. The important thing is that you found Anders, and that you are safely back in the land of the moose! ;D
