SNOW!!!

Oh boy, I kept hearing about snow from friends to the north of Örebro, but when we went to bed last night, it was still clear and starry out. We woke this morning to a dusting of snow on the rooftops and grass and trees. It's already 1, so it'll be gone in another hour, but it sure is pretty. My husband says he can't remember snow here this early since he did his military service in the 1960s, and then they got hammered all winter long. Last year when we were in the States, I guess they had a pretty snowy winter here too, which I'm hoping for, since they groom our jogging track (5 minutes from our apartment) and then you can cross-country ski there, complete with lights for those dark afternoons. Of course, we're not mentioning the fact I haven't been working out all summer and doing my leg exercises and the first time on a set of skis will just about cripple me for the winter.

It was the same here in Stockholm. I saw it starting to snow it was light and flurry not real snow, but it was pretty. It is also 1C here today, though it was 0C during the night. The snow has melted now but we also had a light dusting on the ground. It was pretty. I wonder though since it has snowed early this year does this mean that we are in for a harder winter? I had heard that often is the case.
I like the current crisp weather. It is cold enough to require jackets and gloves but not too cold so as to really freeze oneself. Last New Years Eve it was -21C in Stockholm, that is too cold for my taste. I hope that it's a warmer winter this year but I think not since it has snowed earlier this year.

I wonder though since it has snowed early this year does this mean that we are in for a harder winter? I had heard that often is the case. It isn't all that early...I had written down that we got our first snow (just a light dusting) out here on this very same day last year. But that in Stockholm there were some flurries on the 7th of Oct of last year. But I am with you Anna...those minus 0 celsius temps we had last January were no fun! That is while my parents were here and our car wouldn't start it was so darn cold. We were afraid we weren't going to be able to take them back to the airport!! My mom said she would never come back to Sweden in the winter again!! LOL! I tried to tell her that was an extreme case.

It snowed here on Sunday. Work mornings have been 24 f and I got out my goose-down and gloves last week. Don't ask me how cold early mornings are on the weekends, though, 'cause they're pretty cozy under my nice, warm covers.
