When I left the U.S., I didn't have time to get to the post office for that last package. I left behind on my bed, a small, lightweight package, well-sealed, clearly address, on top of which I put the filled-out and ready to go customs declaration. The guy that took me to the airport said, "No problem, Carolyn, I'd be glad to mail that to you" as I handed him $30 in cash, MORE than enough to mail the package. No word from him, I just assumed it would get done. This was, after all, the RELIABLE one of my roommates.
So today, having no package, I couldn't get in touch with him, so my boss called and managed to talk to him. His response? "I don't know where the package is. I think Albert (the irresponsible roommate) took care of it." Now why would Albert, not knowing what's going on, take care of anything? Why would Shannon have the cash in his hand and assume that Albert would, out of the goodness of his extremely financially deficient pocket, mail a box to Sweden for me?
So apparently, until I can get in touch with Albert, I have to assume that either (1) his dogs have eaten the package (and I hope if they did, they choked on the coat zipper, damn it) or (2) Albert just tossed it in his mouse-ridden dirty, dirty garage and forgot about it. It may never been seen again. And in the meantime, Shannon has the money.
Why don't people say, "I'm sorry, I don't want to do that. It's not convenient" or just plain "Screw you, I don't wanna" Now my heavy winter coat with the hood and lovely deep pockets is god knows where!

You could hire two goons to take care of that problem. ;D That does stink though. My sister did that to me as well. I bought something online then had it sent to her, she was supposed to mail it to me. The company I had bought it from did not ship overseas. I waited and waited and sent many emails to both my sister and the company. The company said that they had mailed it via Fed Ex and had record that it was signed for by my sister. I emailed my sister and she said the same thing. She would mail it ASAP. Weeks go by and still nothing, so I email her again only to have her tell me that it was lost in the move. They had recently bought a house and had moved in. I asked how that was possible, and she wrote "I don't know, maybe the kids lost it" So she brings her kids into this equation!?! I was and still am livid. It was a ladies dark grey cashmere sweater, who do you think is wearing it now? I'm guessing my sister, who happens to be my twin, so of course this size would fit her perfectly. I do understand the feeling Carolyn, it really sucks. Maybe your friend won't be a thief like my sister was though, he may very well find the box and mail it. My sister just flat out lied to me.

Hey Carolyn, you're not going to get the 'screw you' answer while you're handing them money! ;D I've had my share of those experiences over the past few years too.
