Hi everybody, For those of you who have some sort of IM capabilities: I have MSN messenger downloaded and use it when I remember to turn it on. ;D One of the things I like about it is that you can click on the icon, go into 'My Status' and change it to what you want, so if you're online but don't want any intrusion just set it to 'Appear Offline', 'Busy', or 'Away'. (of course, some people ignore it, but what can you do?) But now, several of my friends are saying "Why don't you have ICQ? or Yahoo Messenger? or AOL? etc. I'm not keen on having multiple platforms. However a friend recommended Trillian. I am considering downloading it, but I'm just getting more and more tired of downloading things. I'm at the point now where I just want to be able to do what I want without having to crowd up my hard drive any more. My computer is already full of rubbish. I just want everything to work without having to download something every dang day dang it! I am sick of all the bulky software the IM programs make me install. But according her, so instead of: * MSN Messenger * Yahoo! Messenger * ICQ * AOL * IRC I can just one - Trillian. And it communicates with all platforms. It sounds too good to be true. Does anyone knoiw about this at all?

haven't even heard of Trillion myself, let me know if you try it. I've been on ICQ for years (fell in love with my Anders via ICQ, so I'm sentimental).

I've used Trillian for like ever and I love it to death. I TOTALLY recommend it, so you can be on all services at once without having all of the annoying programs open. I adore Trillian :-D
edited to add: It allows you to set your Status if you are away witht he click of a button, and sets that status for ALL the platforms at once :-D It's such a great program IMO

Thanks for that, Jersey girl. I'm a computer retard, so I'm a little scared of downloading stuff in case I get all sorts of things I don't want on my hard drive, then have to call my long-suffering step-son to come help me out ... yet again As it is, I have to run spybot and ad-aware programs every time the kids have been here downloading who only knows what. I'll give it a try and let you (and Carolyn) know how it goes.

I have also used Trillian for a long time now and have never had any problems with it. So you should be safe to give it a try. *smile*

I did download and try Trillian once, but thought it was awfully complicated. Has it been simplified?
