Site's back up. I was having serious withdrawal problems since it went down last evening. Was almost afraid I'd have to go back to another site I've been avoiding for forever, just to have something to click on.
Anyway, we have our Christmas lights up on the balcony. When we were in the States last year, I bought some multi-colored outdoor fairy lights, the kind that are on a web and you just drape them over your hedges, no sweat. I brought back two packages of them and they JUST fit on the length of our balcony between the roof and the railing, and with my adapter hooked up, once it gets dark they look incredible, especially when there's a bit of a breeze, so there's some movement.
One thing I've really noticed is that since I first landed here in 2000, there sure are a LOT more outdoor lights and decorations. Okay, they're mostly still all white, but in the darkness, that's still so very pretty. This time of year especially, when it's dark by 3 p.m. and doesn't get light until 8 or later, it's just so beautiful and cheery to see them up and twinkling in the darkness.

Anders was in the States in Oct and he brought back blue icicle lights. We have a convertor so we hung them on the balconey and they look great. We've seen white icicle lights here, but so far no blue. I like the brightness of the white lights here, but I do miss a bit of variation. I get excited when I see someone with colored lights.

I pointed out some soft blue lights to Mats just last week because I thought they'd make a nice glow. We already have icicle lights and a converter from America so we'll probably use those.

Dumb question, but what are icicle lights?

They are supposed to look like icicles hanging from the roof, but thinner. They look really nice when hung properly. We had white ones last year, but this year we have blue ones. The white ones are brighter, but these blue ones are more unique.

Thanks, Tracey, I'd seen those before, but didn't know they were called that!
