My sambo's sister is expecting. Her and her husband have been trying for a year to have a baby, and after a couple miscarriages she is now 7 months along.
She doesn't want to know the gender of the baby so we are all wondering. I work part time in a clothing store and today we started to reduce prices on some of our clothes for our after Xmas sale. Many baby items are going on sale 50% off. I found some cute articles of clothing for both boys and girls. So I bought an outfit for each gender. I thought of wrapping them separately and giving them to her saying that if it ended up being the other gender then she could return the other items or give them away. I thought it was a cute idea. I found two adorable outfits, one for a boy, one for a girl.
What I am dismayed about is that my co-workers thought this was tacky, and so did Anders. Is this tacky? I didn't think that it was, but maybe it is. I thought it was a good idea, but now I am unsure.
Any input from you guys?

I don't know about tacky, but why don't you instead wait until the baby is born, give the appropriate outfit then and then either return the other or hold on to it until somebody you know reproduces and has the right sex for the second outfit?

I think Carolyn's suggestions were great. ;D
I wouldn't give her both outfits if I were you ... it just doesn't "feel" like a good idea to me (especially considering the Swedish "superstitions" about not giving baby presents before the baby is born and keeping in mind, too, her previous troubles with having a baby).
